This mug shot (picture) of me was taken by the Chicago police in 1974 for an obscenity arrest for the film “Teenage Fantasies” in which I had a jury trial (After two weeks of trial the case was demised). In 1973 I had my first Federal obscenity arrest for the film “Ranch Slave”. In 1974 I had a trial for this film (I lost at trial won on appeal in the 7th circuit). In 1974 the State trial of “Teenage Fantasies” and the Federal Trial of “Ranch Slave” were back to back of each other to put maxim stress and financial pressure on me. The purpose for this was to punish and annihilate.
I had my first obscenity arrest in 1969 for Jack Smith’s “Flaming Creatures”, which is now considered an underground classic that is shown in film schools.
Steven Toushin Steven was born and raised in Brooklyn N.Y. where, in 1963, at the age of 17, he officially entered the world of SM. In the summer of 1968, Steven arrived in Chicago where he obtained a job managing the Aardvark Theater. The Aardvark showed 16mm art and experimental films, and never made enough money to pay the rent or salaries unless it played skin or gay themed films. This was the beginning of Steven Toushin’s unusual career in SM and the adult industry. With over 38 years of experience as owner and operator of a broad range of adult businesses, Steven Toushin has managed to survive and flourish longer than anyone else in the adult industry, despite 35 personal arrests, 200 busts to his businesses, 5 Federal trials, 3 Federal appeals (winning two), and numerous state and local trials. Twenty-one of the arrests and trials were for obscenity and the others were related to his other adult businesses. Toushin has been incarcerated twice and has spent 3 years in Federal prison for being in his chosen profession. He has also defended numerous local civil and criminal lawsuits in building courts, zoning problems, and local licensing problems that have led up to the Federal court system. He has been a defendant in the legal system continuously from 1970 to the present, 2007. Over the past 38 years, Steven’s businesses have been adult theaters and sex clubs in San Francisco (1970’s to 1980’s), Indianapolis (1970-1980), East Chicago and Gary Indiana (1970-1980), besides numerous theaters in Chicago including the Bijou Theater (1970-present). The Bijou is the oldest gay theater and sex club in the U.S. He has also owned massage parlors (prostitution), adult bookstores, and gay bathhouses, and currently owns Bijou Video an adult mail-order company since 1978. Steven made and produced both straight and gay films from 1970 to 1996. These films include S/M films in the 1970’s and Slave & Master Videos in the early to middle 1980’s. In 1987, several of the Slave and Master films were indicted on Federal obscenity charges in Tennessee and Utah as a result of Attorney General Meese’s Commission on Pornography. This resulted in an extraordinary SM trial that included many well-known people from the Leather community. Steven’s book, The Destruction of the Moral Fabric of America, is centered on this trial. Steven published The Bijou Video Catalog, the bible of gay video, from 1980 to 1995. For 3 years, he wrote a weekly magazine column on his life, politics, BDSM, sexuality, puppy play/training, his experiences in prison, and a series on Jeffrey Dahmer who killed one of his employees. In recent years, he co-authored two non-fiction books with his slave, puppy Sharon, who besides being Steven’s slave, is his companion, collaborator and editor. The Puppy Papers is about a submissive woman’s life and journey into BDSM in search of her Master; and Puppy’s Tales is the continuation of their life over a span of five seasons (15 months). In 1989, while he was in Federal prison, Steven Toushin was the recipient of the Reuben Sturman Award “For Legal Battles on Behalf of the Adult Industry” at the Adult Video News Award Show in Las Vegas. In 2007, Toushin was awarded the “Lifetime Achievement Award” from the Gay Adult Industry at the Gayvn award show in San Francisco. He is one of only three people in the history of the Gay Adult Film Industry to ever receive this honor. On a personal note I have had the good fortune of playing roughly (scening), intensely and sexually with a lot of wonderful women during the past 43 years, this is my drug that gives me inspiration, I do not see this changing. There are many more things I have done, but what I am doing today and will be doing tomorrow is more interesting and exciting to me than what I did yesterday. Thank you for coming to my site.
